News Print Still Going Strong

I was listening to BFM radio this morning when I heard Phillip Karuppiah (CEO of TheMalayMail) talking about some insights in regards to his company. They set to release their renewed news prints (prints and online) coming 30th January 2012. They'll be kicking off at RM1.00 per copy. I think that's a pretty fair and competitive price as compared to TheStar (selling from RM1.20 per copy).

According to Phillip, there's still a need for the prints and it won't die off that easily. Even with the online heat, hard copy is still preferred by many, especially those that goes for morning coffee. Honestly, I think that's pretty true. No matter how good things are in the Net, nothing beats good ol' school hard copy print outs. I'd still prefer to sit at a cafe browsing mags or papers, over eReading on smart devices. It may not be as quickly updated as the online content, but one thing's for sure is that what's printed stays printed, and can't be altered. And it's already printed (like duh~!) so I just need to keep a copy of it, rather than trying to find a printer when I need one.

As how print ads are still ongoing, I think newspapers regardless of which it is, will continue to stay strong, so long the content is compelling, factual, non-biased and perhaps opinionated (Personally, I think it's good to display one's perspective and views on a certain event or occasion, rather than just publishing what everyone else is publishing).

"As the world progresses digitally, the needs for analogue material keeps growing at the same time." DSLR vs Film / Polaroids, Wireless vs Wired, Email vs Post Mail, eNews vs Newspaper, & etc.

Conclusion: news print (like any other analogue materials) will inevitably continue on and will grow stronger in demand.

Big Rays Grill

About a week back, I went to Big Rays Grill (BRG) to grab lunch. Well, I bought a discount voucher off Hahah.com.my and I think it was a pretty sweet deal for myself. The food’s pretty decent (quite a big portion), the setup is good (but definitely can improve; I find the echo a tad bit annoying) and the service is great (attentive, punctual and courteous)! Enough talk, I’ll show you what I had…

The meat’s really juicy! and it ain’t the normal burger patty you find on the roadsides…

(This was complimentary; don’t recall seeing it on menu or reflected in the bill)

This is good stuff! If only I had garlic bread to go with it, it’ll be superb!

HAPPY NEW YEAR (2012) !

I know it’s Chinese New Year (CNY) and I should be writing about it, but who set those rules right? =P Well, in conjunction with the New Year *grins*, I wanna take this opportunity to share out what I did on the first day of new year! What better way it is to celebrate with great friends and family!

Actually, before I head into the story, I wanna highlight a couple of stuffs that I’ve accomplished so far for the year 2011:

Promotion in less than 1 year of service (previous job)
Complete insurance examinations for Life Insurance and Investment-Link within 1 month (includes studying and sitting for the exams)
Caught up with some old buddies before new year ends (no names mentioned)
Bought a NEW car (I’m a proud owner of a Silver Saga FL 1.3 Auto *grins*)
Bought a NEW camera (Panasonic Lumix LX5 baby!)
Bought a NEW laptop (Awesome Asus K43U!)
Traded lens for Tamron 17-50mm & Traded phone for N97 mini
Lost 5KG in less than 2 weeks (well I cheated; dental surgery didn’t allow me to eat much *smirks*)
Drove to Malacca (first trip down in years!)
Etc. (I’m sure if I go on any further, you’ll just close and ignore the rest of the post *sobs, you don’t care about me, sobs*)

So, enough of the “bragging” and back to the story about New Year’s celebration… Went up to Genting the morning after NYE’s at Samuel’s place, with him and 7 other pals of mine (Alex, Jacquelyn, Stephanie, Jackie, Marilyn, Samantha, & Jeremy) to … celebrate the New Year, of course! Initial plan was to be there BEFORE the new year, and come back AFTER first day of new year, but no rooms were avail for us then. Steph and I was there for 1 night, whilst the others stayed another night to celebrate Alex’s birthday… Well, I’ll let my pictures tell the rest of the story =)

Alright, so back to where I mentioned about my side project…
You see, I’ve been planning for this quite sometime,
though it didn’t go quite as planned, but somehow it was good enough =D

My aim was to go to Genting fulfilling 3S:
Singlet, Shorts and Slipper, and stay like that for the whole day…
But it rained in Genting, dropping the temperature even more, so the plan didn’t last long…
So, I improvised and turned it into 5S instead:
Singlet, Shorts, Slipper, Shyiok Sendiri!
w/ nerd glasses and a bottle of Black label making me look #likeadrunktard!

I tell you though the numbers aren't great like the previous years, but the peeps I was with are superb! =) Well, I'll allow my pictures to explain to you how it went...

Making it a Fun Friday!

It's Friday the 13th! Some says it's bad luck day, some says it's a lucky day, when a few would say it's just another day.. I'm neither, 'cause I'm the guy who decides to take up a challenge in making a difference today! At office earlier, I prepared a prop that would obviously cause a commotion, and with the help of my team, we created a visual impact! =P Check it out!

So, people have been asking me where's my new office, what's it like, what have I been doing? Well, today I'm going to answer all of them! With proof of pictures I had managed to snap here and there, throughout my 2 weeks being here.

This is already up since my first day of work...
they celebrate belated X'mas and the New Year together =)

So... back to the questions:

Where am I working at right now? I'm with a Corporate Video Production House, cCubeTV. My office is together with Munchy's (parent company ma). So, yeah that's why you see Munchy's logo in the first picture =)

What do I work as? I'm in an entirely new profession officially, Business Development Executive (BDE) aka Sales Executive.

Where's my office? To MANY people's surprise that I chose a workplace in Klang, roughly 36km from my house in Bukit Jalil / Sri Petaling area.

How much is my pay to work that far? Unfortunately, I can't disclose this information as it is P&C, I hope you understand. But I can share with you, that it is worth it. Not only because of the pay, but also for the experience and knowledge that I can gain from here, both Munchy's and cCubeTV =) (and no I'm not paid to say any of the above).

Free Waste Bin By Alam Flora!

Guess what? Today's pleasant surprise was a gift from Alam Flora! They were in the neighbourhood, distributing free waste bins to each household! Brand NEW bins!

Owner of the house has to personally sign the form
to acknowledge the receiving of the new bins.

They go from door to door to place and ensure that each household
in the neighbourhood gets a new waste bin.

The last time I met Mell, was at the same Chatime nearby my house. The last time we had a proper conversation, was several months ago... So it's about time to get a good catch up with her, before the year ends and 2012 step into our lives =D

Catch Up Over Lunch!

It's been a while since I last saw Jan-E (according to her, it's roughly about 2 years since then, OMGosh!!). So, I'm pretty excited to meet her again, and I'm very happy I did! She looks great!

We chat over lunch, briefly sharing what's been happening in our lives, and at work. I got to realize that there were so many similarities between us! Guess that why we could still click with each other =D Hehe!

Due to time constraint (lunch hours aren't that all long, if you're an employee, you'd understand T_T), we kinda had to cut the conversation short. But we'll definitely meet up again in the new year! =P

Watch A Movie, Ride A Bike..

Thanks to Diese (pronounce: D-C) who helped to organize a movie outing with her sisters and AaronWooLaLa, last night, to watch the infamous Sherlock Holmes! (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows).

Have you noticed this feedback panel?
I just did, and I gave them a =) because of their pricing, service and upkeep of the cinema!
Not to mention, it's a pretty convenient place to reach, and there's ample parking each time I go there!

The movie was brilliant and epic! Unexpected scenes throughout the entire show! I think it's one of the best around =D Definitely, no spoilers here, but I can say this, BE PREPARED TO LAUGH FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END! (Seriously, if you don't have to laugh even one bit, something's wrong with you!)

My rating for this AWESOME movie is 9/10.

As compared to the earlier sequel, this removes the element of thinking, but placed more action and exhilarating scenes instead. Some parts were overly used, but you wouldn't notice that unless you pay attention to details rather than the overall of the show. I would say it is a MUST-WATCH movie.. and will be great to have a copy at home!

After the movie, we went to check out Aaron's big-bad-ass bike! The largest 250cc Kawasaki bike there is available in the market. Sounds great, feels great, you'd be great to own it! =P So what do you do when you have a camera on hand and a nice ride in front of you? Duh, camwhore la!

Leaving A Legacy Behind

Have you thought of what would be for you, at the end of the day? What would have achieved by then? How would you like others to see you as?

I know these are deep questions, but I believe they are the good type of deep. The reason why I have these questions is because I came to realize that whatever I am doing now, will be reflected in the future and they affect how others think of me. Some people may not be bothered about it now, but really, when the time comes they'll understand what I'm talking about. Imagine 10-20 years from now, what would you want your kid, family and friends to see you as? I would definitely want to be their hero! I wish to be their inspiration and also role model as a living example of someone who is able to fulfil his promises and achieve his defined targets. Someone respectable. The legacy of Jeffro!

Why this is crucial? Because at the end or towards the end of my life, I want to be remembered by others. I may suffer from Alzheimer, Amnesia, or the other type of memory-depreciating diseases, but what's important to me, is that others would remember me for what I've accomplished, the difference I made, the smiles and laughter I created, the lives I've impacted and the inspiration to others that I've become.

A Day at The Mines

Went there in search of a location to reload my Touch 'N' Go card with Amex, however, to my disappointment, they did not have the service to even begin with - They only accept cash! =(

So, I went walking around since I was already in the mall itself. Didn't want to waste my trip there, I decide to see what's happening in the mall. I saw a bookshop had its book on sale, but to my very surprise, it was a very unexpected atmosphere there...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! May you have an awesome time in this blessed time as we celebrate the ending of a great year, and to welcome the arrival of a fabulous new year! If you've got something left to do in 2011 (something you've not marked off your to-do-list-2011), then get started before 2012 comes and it's only 1 week or less away!

This year, I did (and I'm doing) something different - rather than the conventional text messages I send out or the Facebook / Twitter updates that I post, I make random personal calls to the people on my list! Though, I've not been able to call everyone, but I made the effort to do so - Some had changed their numbers (OMGosh, that shows how long I've been out of touch), some did not pick up my calls (busy partying?), and some turned off their phones (early to bed?). Oh well...

No matter what, I just love the moments over phone calls where I can hear the laughter and enjoy the conversation (though short ones) with my friends. I think this is the best X'mas ever!

P.s: No, I won't be posting up who or how many I called. Whoever I didn't manage to get hold off, don't get upset. You're not forgotten, I can assure you that =)

I Broke My Lens Filter sobs

Of all the things that I could have broken, it had to be the lens filter! =( Well, I guess it's a good thing it was the filter, rather than the lens itself *phew* Was unpacking my stuffs, then suddenly my lens out of no where just came tumbling-ever-after, and the next thing I know, I heard glass shattering sound. I panicked, no kidding! My heart was racing so fast, that I was stunned for a couple of seconds before I had the guts to actually check the lens! It happened sometime 3am this morning...

Scared me half to death!

Comic Fiesta @ KLCC Convention Centre

Found out about the Comic Fiesta somewhat a couple of weeks ago, which excites me a lot! Honestly, I’ve been hearing about it here and there, but I’ve never been to it. Always wondering what it’s like there, I mean the atmosphere.. watching people play their favorite comic characters, cosplay, etc. Yeah, I’ve seen in pictures, but not in person = not real.

So, with some “encouragement” from a couple of friends, I decided to take a trip down to KLCCCC (KLCC Convention Centre, *OMGosh so many Cs*) to meet up with a friend who told me she’ll be cosplaying there. Hahaha, like any other guy, I’d definitely be interested in seeing a sexy character =P But, I managed to meet up with Justin and Stephanie there too! Awesome, no? Anyways, I only managed to grab a few shots. I didn’t actually go into the place, ‘cause it was really crowded, and I’m not the type that likes to be in a long queue unless it’s REALLY, REALLY something good! (in which, the last I did for AAR’s concert, I wasn’t too proud of it)

Was invited by both Melissa and Angelina (they are both great gals), to watch and enjoy a musical play by the Metro Tabernacle’s church members. It was really fascinating, but I didn’t have my camera with me, so I can’t really post anything about it. But, Melissa was in the play whilst Angelina kept me company throughout the night.

After the play, we quickly met up with Melissa. I haven’t seen her like in ages! She’s grown prettier, definitely. And Angelina? She’s taller than before! and prettier too, not to forget =D

Dental Surgery: After-Effects!!

Though I posted previously about my dental surgery I had last Tuesday, on Blog, Facebook, and Twitter, there are some people who still don’t believe that dental surgery would cause bad swelling on the jaw and it can last for days. So, I’d figured it’s best to SHOW that it’s indeed a fact and not a made-up story. It’s a #truestory!

This is how I look like at the 4th day after the surgery.

Dental Surgery… Better Now than Later!

So, 13 Dec 2011 (13/12/11) marks a special day. It’s a day where I’ve got a mix of feelings running through my mind, body and especially on my mouth – Pain, Relief, Sore, Numbness, Swelling, Unease, Happy, Satisfied, etc.

Stepped into the dental clinic first thing in the morning, prepared myself mentally, told myself to be brave (yea, so I’m afraid of the dentist… Don’t judge me!) but it didn’t turn out quite as plan. Didn’t know the after effects / post-surgery would be so darn uncomfortable!

I had to extract 2 wisdom teeth, because both are impacting the others and causing my inconveniences during my meals. Oh, let’s not forget the occasional ulcer caused by the grinding of abnormal wisdom teeth against the inner cheek flesh. I requested for sedation (knock out gas/shot) but was told that it can only be done at hospital; At the clinic, I can only get anesthetic shots to my mouth. I’ve got no other choice, so I braved up and went ahead with it.

The first tooth was extracted and boy, it felt easy at first. Then, slowly came in the pain crawling into the lower part of my jaws. But thanks for the shots earlier, I could only feel 10% or lesser. Good? Well, think again… My second tooth was the one that gave most problem. In fact, the dental surgeon took longer time at the second one. Apparently, I had be to be given numerous shots, as they weren’t really that effective against the actual pain… Or I just happen to have inconveniently darn good nerves… Hahaha..

This is the first wisdom tooth out; See the curvy root?
Didn’t get the shot of the 2nd one, cause my mind was clouded with numbness
from my lower jaw, at the same time, pain was slowly kicking in…

Throughout the whole process, I only shed 2 tears!
And I slot in some jokes with the surgeon and nurse in between, #likeaboss

I got back, and immediately take a nap..
The surgery is really tiring..

[Right] Hours later, the swell worsen! I look chubby!! (>_<”)

So, here’s the 2 extracted wisdom teeth…
They are huge! And to think they were 70% buried in my gums previously…
*shivers*

Well, my dental surgery sorta went well. I’m on pain killers right now, I stop using the gauze ‘cause they were very uncomfortable. Plus, the bleeding kinda slowed down, so it’s alright =D Anyways, the damager to my wallet was exactly RM2,000 (my hard earned money just went to my tooth, I hope tooth fairy will compensate me well for the good looking teeth there =P). Dental care don’t come cheap!

So lesson learnt very, very well!
Freaking take care of your teeth now,
Else, pain will come in various ways..
(Wallet, Teeth, Jaw, Mind, etc.)

Fantastic Outing with The Ladies

Had a fantastic and fabulous Sunday, thanks to two lady friends of mine, Stephanie & Adeline! Honestly, we’ve been planning an outing together since like forever ago! Well, a plan was nearly realized about a week or two ago. BUT, plans don’t ever work out the way you want to right? So, we improvise on the spot. Just a day before out splendid outing, we were wondering what movie to catch and what to do… Apparently, each of us had watched a certain movie already, and didn’t want to do it the second time. So quick thinking happened! Suggested we just meet up first before thinking any further =P And, well check out below to know what goes around =D

We took a couple of snap shots before Miss Adeline arrives. There were some pretty cool decorations in Pavillion, KL. Not to mention some United Teddy exhibition at the front of Pavillion’s entrance. Didn’t have a picture of it, because I didn’t manage to capture a proper shot (no good angles for me, I guess).

The moment Adeline touch down, we went immediately to GSC to check out what there is to watch. Well, every other movie was either bad timing, or we had each watch some of them. Then, we stumble upon a movie which I just had to watch it, since I had seen “Nasi Lemak 2.0”; though this time around the seats weren’t the best.

After the movies, we went to grab a bite at food court. Boy, was it packed with people! We managed to get ourselves a box J-Co’s with minimal waiting time, but we couldn’t find a seat nearby. So, we walked around and found ourselves a table in the middle of the food court.

We had a scrumptious bite, and some great catch up!
We were practically laughing the whole time =D

Then of course, the ladies need to camwhore =P

We were chatting away for about 2 hours, over only a box of J-Co’s, LOL! It was about 8pm that we decided to call it in a day, and head home. Time flies so fast, that Adeline was surprised we had sat down and laughed away for 2 hours!

On the way, we heard caroling from the concourse of Pavillion.
They were good, but the clear jingle ball were better =P
We couldn’t resist getting a final shot!

So we all parted; While Adeline decides to take the monorail, Stephanie and I decided to walk back to the Rapid KL Hang Tuah LRT station, which isn’t too far from Pavillion. Probably 10 minutes or so? But we went detouring around, and we saw something which reminded us of Adeline!

Coincidence? or was it a sign? =P

Project HeartFeasts

Hi Everyone!

Jeffro *points to me* was invited to be part of a history-in-making, called Project HeartFeasts. HeartFeasts aims to build up a sanctuary for lost children (from broken home or busy family) which provides them a brilliant environment close to mother nature.

The sanctuary, which is currently in construction (about halfway complete), is located in rural side of Selayang, where it is surrounded by forest and fruit trees, waterfall and also farm animals such as goats, turkeys, and chickens. HeartFeasts may not be luxurious like those of day care, pre-school, private school centers, but it is the best place for any child to grow and familiarize themselves with nature, allowing them to appreciate better, grow healthier, and think greener!

So I'm calling out to anyone who is able to contribute your time and effort/energy in the following areas:

Labor works - Let's do some physical exercise! Don't worry, most of the heavy lifting are done in the early stages; now it's more towards arranging materials and relocating resources...
Publicity - We need all the help we can get to promote the place, in order to create awareness and attraction for the upcoming sanctuary! Bloggers, photographers, writers... you're more than welcome to join us in the making of a history! Not to mention, you'll be part of the history and credits will definitely be given.
Fundraising - Gotta get some financial support for the construction as well as providing food to the helpers =) We know there's no such thing as a free meal, what more free charitable works? With some support, we can provide the helpers good meals to energize themselves in the midst their works.

You with your lady, the one that you've been dreaming about all the while; both of you are getting along so well, that you've somewhat ended up on the bed (whether it's yours or hers, or somewhere else); you're both in the sensational heat of the intercourse, BUT!! somehow somewhat you're ain't there at all... Now that's the side effect of smoking!!

Turns out that human chimney you’re dating may actually be less of a stud than his healthier compatriots. It’s no secret that smoking clogs the arteries, including those that fill the penis with blood at that critical moment. This means smokers may have a harder time rising to the occasion. Bet he quits now!

Retiring… I’m Changing Profession

Well, I guess this is a rather backdated post. Yeah, I’ve resigned from the company and I’m retiring as a Business Analyst only to go into what suits me better, which is Sales & Marketing. Though I’ve some basic exposure to Sales, but Marketing doesn’t appear all that foreign to me. I’m pretty enthusiastic about my new career… or should I say careers?

I’m changing profession is one thing, but I’m not just job hopping. I’m gonna be exploring the better side of me with hopes to solidify the strengths in the area I’m more comfortable with – Meeting people, making, negotiating and closing deals.

Just to share a little, I’ll be doing my best in simultaneously running several works – Insurance, Lifestyle Consultancy, Photography, eTrader and last but not least as a Sales person.

A little about Sales:

It’s the only job that allows one to earn more than his basic; it is known as commission.
Some of the big players in the world, came from sales background.
Sales is something everyone has been doing since they were born.
It allows one to learn how to be adaptive and responsive in a shorter amount of time.
Not to forget, one will be able to familiarize and study the different types of people around.

As you see, most of the works I stated earlier has something to do with Sales, but not much on Marketing. I’m hoping to learn more from my new job which starts next year!

I can’t tell you how excited I am to not only see Clara in person, hear her sing live in front of a few hundreds of audience, observe her funny gestures and exciting hype on stage, but also to get her album with her autograph and also a warm hug from her! Totally awesome and wicked cool! =D

They seemed to be very comfortable on stage, and they were really in jive, blending with the crowd as their music resonates with our hearts. After their performance, it was time for Meet&Greet session. Did I mention that I got a warm hug from Clara? *grins*

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture taken of ClaraC hugging me (but I’m certain the official photographers did, I hope). Anyways, I did get something else – Her album which is personally signed by Clara herself *yeays!*

Can’t wait for her next live performance in KL next year! Clara mentioned she’ll bring her band too! =D This is not to miss!!

Last 2 Days of Work

Well, I guess at this point of time, there's nothing much to be done here. I've pretty much closed up my tasks, transitioned out outstanding tasks to relevant parties, and followed up on some minor works... Today, they're all done!

Tomorrow's my last day at work!

However, another colleague beat me to it. Her last day is today itself (a day earlier than me!). So we went for her farewell lunch at the nearby KFC. The above picture has had their faces censored to protect their identities, lol.

After lunch, well, we headed back to office to continue our work. For me, I'm starting to clean up my desk, pack my stuffs, clear things out, and you know the drill goes on. I'd probably be missing my "island" (a term used by some colleagues of mine; referring to section of open cubicles). I still have a day left to do whatever there is to do here =)

Final Week at Workplace!

Wow, in a blink of the eye, months have passed and here I am serving my final week at office. Looking back at how I've started, things have been pretty great for me. From the simple-minded fresh grad I were a year ago, I joined the company as an associate consultant cum jr. business analyst and within the span of a year, I got promoted to senior consultant rank. Not bad for a rookie, huh? *grins* For those of you who are yet to know me, when I'm at work, I somehow transformed into a raging bull towards its target, or so I've been told.

"You're very aggressive at work.. Slow down la, chill a bit"

"The word 'BUSY' never seems to run away from you. In fact, I believe its your synonym..."

Yea those are the words coming from friends. And I'm happy that I'm being noticed by my efforts, and to have them supported by friends and the management team from the company. It's been a superb experience, I'd say!

I'll bring forward all the things I've learnt and apply whatever I can, as I move forward into the next "ship".

For now, I've gotta get back to work... Wanna ensure that I cover all ends on my side, before I hand over the tasks back to my team =)

It seems good things are on a streak! I've gotten more great deals, in which I'm very lucky to have budget for - It's my version of investment =) Check out the previous "New, new, new" post, if you're curious what had happened *winks*

So what's new this time around? Haha, well it's another 3 things to mark off my list!

New Laptop - Asus K43U
One of the latest ones in the market, highly recommended by a friend of mine. It's using one of the latest APU, AMD Brazos Dual Core E-450 processor and is equipped with AMD 6320 discreet GPU. It's so new that it's not even fully updated on Asus's site itself by the time I bought it! Cool eh?!

I got it upgraded to 6GB of RAM (from it's original 2GB). Many wouldn't believe me if I'd say I got it for less than RM1,300, but I did! Keep in mind that it's 14.1" laptop =P Well, before I got this, I did consider getting the MSI CR650 (15.6" version of this) but I prefer this Asus model because of its battery life span - it can last me more than 5 hours (whilst Internet and document works)! What can I say, it's a good bargain! *winks*

If you're interested, let me know, I know someone who can get you a good price as he did for me *grins* =D
New Graphic Card for Desktop - ATi Radeon HD 5830
Not a particular new one in the market, but it's an upgrade in which I can afford. Performing at an average 50% in many areas, this 5830 out performs my previous 4850. Not to forget it comes with a better cooling system and an HDMI support.

I saw the proven difference in scoring with I tested it with Furmark. What seems to be lagging when tested with the 4850, was so much smoother with the 5830.

I know, I know.. Many asked the same question too - "Why not 5850 or better? It's not that expensive you know.." But what can I say more, when I was offered less than RM300 for the HD5830? A darn good bargain if you ask me =)
Voltage Stabilizer! for my car...
Sweet! Finally, I've gotten a DIY voltage stabilizer (VS) that's better than the Zaptor Fusion for a fraction of the price! I got this from an Lowyat Forumer who produces the voltage stabilizers and ground cables for cars as a hobby.

So what's this VS about? Well, I'll just share what I know about it (I've only done a little research about it, and asked some friends whom had it installed in their cars) The significance of the VS are:
- Smoother gear shifts (for auto car)
- Brighter lights and less dim when air-cond compressor kicks in
- Increases battery life span - stable voltage production through VS
- Improve fuel consumption
- Increases engine performance
- Increase life span of car's electrical and electronic components
- Etc.
Except for the fuel consumption (because I had just installed it), the rest are obviously apparent after installation. I'd gotten the VS installed for less than RM200 (yes, another great bargain! *smiles from left ear to the right ear*)

A few weeks ago, most of us celebrated with friends and/or family, the special occasion of "Festival of Lights". As a cultural tradition, Indian friends would invite over family and friends to their open houses to share a wonderful time and eat/drink a splendid meal together.

Well, of course that's not the funny part. What'll make you laugh would be about my visit to a friend's place...

So on 26th October, I went to a friend's (a friend whom I call Raja) place for Diwali lunch. But it turned out to be an awkward moment. How? Here's what happened...

Raja stays in one of those shop-lot houses (houses about the shop-lot; somewhat like apartments). I kind of forgotten which road his house is at, so I called him and he had his nephew guided me there. Upon reaching the his place, I lost sight of his nephew, but I saw a friendly lass whom I believe was a relative of Raja's. I thought she'll be guiding me to Raja's place... Perfectly normal I think; when a friend's coming over, you'll have an escort awaiting for your friend if you're busy preparing stuffs, right? Plus, she was smiling at me! I swear I didn't drink, nor I was on any cough syrups!

Anyhoo, I followed the girl and went up to the house.. and this is where it starts:

Me: HAPPY DEEPAVALI!! *looks around*
The family: Happy Diwali, thank you for coming. Come come, please come in.. *escorts me into the house*
Me: *smiles* Where's Raja?
The Guy: *looks at me, a little puzzled* I'm Raja.
Me: O_O *Looks blur, 'cause though it's been a while, I know that guy ain't the Raja I know* Err, you're Raja?
The Guy: *smiling at me* Yes, I'm Raja.
Me: @_@ *Looks super blur now* Then, where's Sugu? (Sugu's my friend's other nephew.. at least if I had forgotten Raja, I wouldn't forget the charming Sugu)
The Guy: *now he looks blur at me* Who?
*Awkward silence*
Me: hahaha *laughs softly at myself* I think I got the wrong house... *paced out of the door, passed the other members of the family*

I must admit at the sudden moment, it was awkwardly silent, worse still is that everyone's looking at me, till the very end (>_<")

Guess what, not long after I left the house, to catch a breather, my friend (the actual Raja) called and asked me what happened, and why have I not arrived at his place yet. Then, I told him about the incident. He laughed! Well, that's not a surprise at all. He then explained that he had stepped out for a while to get something, and the people whom I met earlier, are his family and relatives. LOL! It means I was at the right place after all!!

So, why wasn't the Raja I met, not the Raja I know? There's a simple explanation for that. Both of them have the same nickname. I can't reveal their full names, but both of their names goes "....raja".

Imagine that...

The same name can be pretty confusing eh?

Student Engagement Center (SEC)

Last Tuesday, I attended a session, SPARC Series 2, conducted by SEC. Well, initially my reasons are to meet Zlwin (aka The Magician), who was the guest start during the session, and also to catch up with ChrisTock (aka Spinzer). But I came to find out that there was more to the whole engagement – It is the idea I’m hoping to realize it one day!
So what’s SEC about? Here’s some info for you:

The Student Engagement Center (SEC) aims to be a coalition or an umbrella body for interest and hobbies-based societies across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. The organization serves as a common platform of interaction for college and university students across the region, fostering greater synergy between students in different locations and of different tertiary education system by placing emphasis on community building through interests, leadership development and a more effective method of communication with the advent of the internet age.

New, New and New

What is new? Well, quite a few to mention. I finally gotten some stuffs done. After months of planning and waiting, it finally turned into a reality!

So what are the new stuffs?

New setup for my home desktop – New installation of Windows 7 64-bit Operating System (and yes it is original *support genuine stuffs* =P)

Took me a while to get everything sorted..
Including backup, installation and restoring, it totaled up to 16 hours worth of work!
*wipes sweat* Weeew..

New Internet connection – Unifi 5Mbps alas!

After months of waiting, calling, checking and waiting again, it finally came true!
I’m officially running Unifi here!

Master Toast @ The Scott Garden Mall

Had my dinner at Master Toast in The Scott Garden Mall. At a glance from afar (coming from the front entrance of the mall), anyone would thought it’s just another small café by the corner. Little did I know that was far from wrong…

Notice that? From the direction I came from I thought “Another pitiful café stuck at the corner, how in the world would it attract people?” Yeah, by the time I decided to take a peek inside, I was surprised by the size of it. I took back my words instantly!

So I checked around to see what they have (besides the menu, and the promotions). They were once visited by the World’s #1 badminton player, Lee Chong Wei! They had a cozy corner with lots of fluffy pillow too! Not to forget, they actually had a bladeless stand fan! How cool is that?! Overall, the setup and environment was great!

I was also attracted to their monthly promotion, and decided to order a few (my family was around as well to try out the new café) items off the promotional menu.

We ordered 2 drinks for a start – Asam Kedondong and Choc Oreolicious. For bites, an MT Toast, an MT Club Sandwich and a Foot Long Sausage.

Oh-Em-Gee! They were delicious! The drinks were simply great! We couldn’t get enough of it! It was like the best drinks we had in a long time! Asam Kedondong’s taste was amazing, not unlike some other diluted drinks we tasted in other restaurants. The Choc Oreolicious was thick! and I believe they had grinded the Oreos to mix the chocolate! I’ve yet to try other drinks out, but these two were simply awesome! I’d go for more if I had the stomach for it.

I love the MT Toast – a rich mix of kaya and butter. It had enough taste that beats those of ”[insert name]’ kopitiams! But I believe the MT Club Sandwich is more of a bargain! The ingredients are fresh and Master Toast weren’t stingy! Usually I’d see really thin tomato slices, some half-beaten cabbages, a small cut of chicken ham and cheese, but the Club Sandwich was none of the above! They had sufficient ingredients to make me smile! *grins*

The Foot Long Sausage was a healthy foot long sausage! *laughs* I mean seriously, I went to some café before and ordered a similar dish, but it looked nothing as compared to Master Toast’s! To top that, they had this black pepper gravy that was outstanding! Blended perfectly with the sausage, fries and other stuffs on the plate. Needless to say, it’s darn worth it!

You’d think I’m kidding when I say it’s worth it, eh? Well, see for yourself! The receipt I had gotten for the delicacies above =)

Don’t worry you won’t be missing out much, as there’s next month’s promotional menu (and it’s only a day away!). Well, I didn’t capture the menu in much of a clear manner, but head over there and you’ll find yourself enjoying a good meal =)

Finally gotten myself to grab the pictures off my phone to blog about it. I must admit I was pretty lazy to send the pictures to my computer via Bluetooth, what more to say about dragging the card reader out. But, alas I did it! Boy there’s a whole bunch of picture I had forgotten about as well! *laughs*

Walk Around @ The Scott Garden Mall

On a hot day like no other, I usually hate to be in the house sweating (sit in front of a stand fan doesn’t help). Thus, I decided to head out with my family. Tesco in Old Klang Road, came to my mind and it seems to be a great idea as I hadn’t been there before. The place there was big, but quite a lot of empty lots there. But once everything is in place, believe me it’s gonna be a hit place to hang out. There’s a Zen area where there are pretty bonsais around!

In Tesco, well nothing’s different than the other Tesco outlets. So I went around wandering, especially at the cool section – Frozen goods. Saw a pretty interesting sticker at the coolers there – “We are able to reduce our prices as the temperature regulators in our freezes help save energy by up to 30%” by Tesco. Initially, I thought that the prices will be dropped by 30% but by the second time I read it, then I knew that was just my fat hopes. It’s like other F&B outlets saying “The above pictures are for illustration purposes only”, what gives! Then, walked around a little more, to find out that Tesco is really into ~~ripping off people’s~~ creating their own products, they’ve got drinks, food and snacks in their brands! How ~~crappy~~ cool is that?!

I attended the newcomer’s session at Great Eastern Mall, and as I was about to head back home, I decided to call my friends out for a drink (didn’t want to waste my time driving all the way to Ampang from Sri Petaling, without meeting some buddies of mine). Instead of yumcha (Translate: drink or hangout session) with a bunch, I only manage to get hold of Colbie. As I called her out for a drink, I went walking around the mall (it’s a habit of mine – can’t stay still during a call; tend to walk around) and I came across an exhibition of Halloween Decoration! So quickly I snapped a couple of pictures =) Unfortunately, didn’t buy anything because I know this year I won’t be celebrating it.

3rd Wave Concert @ FGA, KL

On 15th October 2011, Brian Joo and Alexander Lee (from uKiss) came to perform at what is known as the Third Wave Evangelism. Not so sure about the entire occasion, but I know I enjoyed the awesome songs sang by the two Korean pop stars. Ooo, there was another Korean guy (grew up in the same city as Brian) by the name of Pastor Johnny (PJ) in whom, seems to me as the guy who spearheaded the event.

Big Bad Wolf Book Sales @ MAERPS, Serdang

About a week before the 3rd Wave Concert, I went to the Big Bad Wolf Book Sales. The size of the hall had me awed, but the selection on books didn’t impress me a bit. May be all the good ones were taken, I don’t know. I did after all went there about a week or so after its first day opening. *sigh* I reluctantly bought a book (which was okay, but not really what I wanted) for the sake of buying at least a book there. Thought I’d find something that would feed my interest in some areas – sales & marketing, biz management, people management, photography; but na-dah there was nothing of my liking.

Real Steel Screening @ GSC, Pavillion KL

Was invited by Stephanie to catch the premier screening of Real Steel before it is officially released publicly in the local cinemas. Before the movies, Stephanie and I walked around Pavillion. Since neither Stephanie nor I had been to the Tokyo Street in Pavillion, I decided to talk a stroll there, and see if I could get any snacks before the movies (was rather hungry though), but to my dismay, the snacks there were awfully expensive. Maybe they are imported goods from Japan, but seriously a bag of chips about the size of Jack N’ Jills is about RM10? Gosh! Then, I saw bottles of sake being displayed at one of the shops. They weren’t affordable for me either. I guess alcohols are expensive, that I won’t deny. But a bag of chips costing around RM10, seriously?

Festival City - Building in Progress @ Setapak

Brought my car for tinting (bought somewhat a good deal off Mydeal.com.my) and as the personnel there attend to my car, I took a walk outside (I can’t sit still, what more to wait for at least an hour until my car is ready). Back then, I saw a mall that had a signage stating that it would be ready by 20th October 2011. I wonder if it’s all ready now…

VERTIGO KL’s Soft Launch @ Garden’s Rooftop

One the nights after work, I invited a colleague cum good friend of mine, Handy to a night club named VERTIGO. I had received an invitation via phone and email prior to it, and was allowed to invite a guest along. So the moment the clock hit 7pm, we were out of the building and heading towards to party! It wasn’t that all big, rather it’s kinda cramp once the crowd was all arrived there. Not to mentioned it was smoky as well, I could hardly breathe with all the cigarette puffs coming from all direction. We saw many hot and good looking ladies, but we were turned off once we saw most of them were smokers too! I don’t know about you or others, but I have a thing here – I don’t like lady smokers; whether they’re smart or they’re pretty, so long I see a cigarette at the lips of the lady or a smoke puff coming out of her mouth, I feel disgusted (>_<”)

Night + Ideas = Nideas!

Can't sleep at night, 'cause you've got a lot on your mind or suddenly there's a gush of ideas in your mind?

Well, one of the suggested solutions would to get them thoughts out of your mind. How? Fairly simple, move the thoughts out of your head and into a written form - paper, notes, etc.

If you're wondering whether this works or not, why not just give it a try and see what happens? Otherwise, your other choice would be to stay up pondering with it until you grow tired of it =P

Sometimes I do both! Only because when I write down an idea, it leads to another and soon grows to a concept which later on makes me really glad I managed to write it out =) Else, come morning, I'd be scratching my head over what happened last night that kept me awake the whole time =D

So what do you need to get the thoughts/ideas out? You just 3 things:
1. Night Lamp (optional but better to have some clear light, especially if you have a lot of things to write)
2. Paper (and lots of it, better in the form of a notebook)
3. Pen (duh, definitely!)

With this I hope you can get a good night rest! =D

I may not be refreshing the post every few seconds/minutes, but I sure was checking it everyday, and BELIEVE me when I say, there were more decent blog post then.

The Real Steel! review

A big thanks to Nuffnang and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Malaysia for the chance of being part of Premiere Screening of Real Steel. It is certainly one of the best action movie I've seen in a long time, and I'll let you know why just in a bit =) Before that, I just wanna share what my answer was for the question posted by Nuffnang:

Question: How you would build your own fighter robot?

Simple! A shape-shifting robot, with state of the art technology and abilities... flexible adamantium build, with nano-suit abilities that allows restructuring of any part quick and without problem.. You don't need a chainsaw if you have the awesome hybrid martial arts (JiuJitsu, Kickboxing, Aikido, etc) programmed into it... Virtually undefeatable, #1 in the ring, #1 in your hearts (for the fans; gotta love the crowd right?), #1 in the world, the 1 and only, The Real Steel! =) Let's not forget its great sponsor and partner, Nuffnang *grins*.

Hehehe, that was how I scored a pair of invitations to the screening. Alright enough about that. So let's move onto the review of the show. The movie Real Steel, is no doubt an awesome show, and I bet those who had watched me with me would say so too.

Some super awesome technology was shown - Transparent and Flexible OLED screen panels for phones and computers! I think they are concept phones and computers on screen for marketing/promoting purposes, by Nokia and HP as I saw them repeatedly shown in obvious manners. Boy will Nokia and HP be a big talk once they go on screen officially to the public! The future technology displayed throughout the movie was rather realistic (we'll prepare ourselves for lots of robot-action sports?)

The storyline is touching - I can still clearly remember the heartfelt sentence between a father and a son "I've tried my best, what do you want me to do?", then "I just want you to fight for me, that's all that I ever wanted". From distanced strangers to close bonding, it's simply the perfect storyline!

This is a movie that can be watched by anyone. I would say it's a family movie, because it shows the value of appreciation, family bonds and teamwork! An important aspect was brought to the screen, in that the power of recognizing opportunities that will potentially change everything and the power of will to see it through. It proves that size does not matter, it's the heart that counts. One may have the best technology, best program, best experts to operate it, but if it does not have the heart for it, it's just another thing that comes along and goes away eventually.

Also, the movie exhibits that humans in the future are more civilized - though they want more action, but they are aware of the consequences of directly involving human in the process, hence replaced it with disposable or expandable technology - Get the humans out and let the robots do the fighting!

For the characters, I like the kid (Dakota Goyo aka Max Kenton) who starred in the show, his emotions were genuine and I gotta admit it, he was the key person who made the show pretty touching. Also you gotta love his eyes! (Watch the movie and you'll know! *grins*) Also, not to forget both Hugh Jackman (Charlie Kenton) and Evangeline Lilly (Bailey Tallet) who were both SEXY and HOT, yet expressing a great deal of affection - Not many people are able to show genuine love and gratefulness.

So how do I rate this movie? I guess from all the points above, I could sum into a figure of:

9.5 out of 10

What happened to the balance of 0.5? Well, let's just say, when you pay attention to the details. Heavy object should have a heavy impact on the ground, unless it's rubber, but in the case of metal, well I didn't quite see that. Also, there's a certain truth that was not reveal, in regards to Max Kenton's ability to interact with robots (or perhaps that's part of the mystery that should be adding value to the movie). Last but not least, in case if others didn't notice this (can't blame anyone, the overall was great, and many would close one eye on this) the continuous battle of robots, though show great damage impact throughout the fight, but have seemed to "restored" back to an earlier condition once it had ended. The dent that was created, seem to have gone away. But all these were minor stuffs, hence only the 0.5. When giving a review, one should be fair =)

I wouldn't mind watching this movie for the second time! (Well, but in fact I did! How? That's for me to know, and for you to find out *winks*)

Listen to Your Dentist!

I had learned a great lesson as I stepped out of the dentist clinic earlier today. To be honest, I've not visited the clinic in a long while, or more specifically in years. Dentist tells me to be regular, but I guess the fright of the screeching sounds from the tools kept me away. But not today, as I gathered my courage *takes a deep breath* and walked into the room. It wasn't all pleasant for me, after all, it had been years since I was last there (and no I didn't go anywhere else). So, I got my check up, my cleaning and patching for some minor cavities *yikes!* Okay I didn't do a great job at dental care, so sue me! (Noooo, I'm kidding! Don't sue me, I'm broke... and you'll know why in a bit)

The price to pay for the time I've missed is great (somewhat RM500) but considered rather small if you calculate it based on the years. Nevertheless, there's still traces of burning in my wallet as I "speak" this. "Why so expensive?" Well, I guess I missed out the part on the x-ray? "What x-ray?" Yeah I got some abnormal wisdom tooth (molar) growth, and according to the dentist, whom by the way is very good, I've got to undergo a dental surgery soon, otherwise I'll be potentially losing more teeth. You see, in the recent years I've somewhat grown extra wisdom teeth (molar) on bothleft and right ends of my jaws. Well, that's normal, but what's not normal is the position they grew in. Though not normal, this kind of scenario happens rather frequently amongst people, but they are usually taken care of when found. In my case, I only thought they were broken tooth, since I could only see a portion of it. Little did I know, after the x-ray was done, they were full grown teeth with good, strong and long nerves with it *facepalm*. The risk is here that if left there for long, I may lose out my front molars, and eventually have nothing to chew my food. I may have to wear denture!!! *OMGosh!!!*

So lesson learned well - Visit the dentist often, and keep your teeth in good care. Otherwise, you'll soon regret it!

P.s: But I guess it's a good thing for me, if I had waited until next year, I might be in real trouble. Hehe, so for now, I've gotta plan for the right time and plan financially how to take care of this - It's a surgery after all, big time money investment in dental care!

Attitude

Magical Night!

Today, I woke up to a blue sky and my heart skipped a beat! It was breathtaking! or maybe perhaps it's just an exciting moment because it's been quite a while since I last saw such a clear blue sky... For those who don't know, it's been pretty hazy lately (probably due to the bushfire from Indonesia, not sure) and boy I could not differentiation clouds from the sky. At that moment, I'm very sure that today's gonna be a great day!

Took my family out to Sunway Pyramid, had good meals, and got some really cool and nice pictures of cats from a Cat Exhibition (MCFA Cat Exhibition 2011) =)

And alas, tonight, when told by my Sis about the moon, I witnessed something truly amazing! I saw a clear full moon, with its moonbeam radiance (halo) SO HUGE like you've never seen anything like it before! What's more if it's directly above MY HOUSE! Yes, I had to strain my neck look directly up! To top that experience, I saw the slow motion of the cloud curtain moving from one point of the radiance to the other... IT WAS SO COOL! (Update: this phenomenon is known as the Moon Dog, now I can't wait for Sun Dog to appear!)

Importance of Appreciation

Each and everyone of us needs some words of affirmation every now and then. And knowing that at least someone acknowledges our efforts in performing a certain task, makes a whole lot of difference to us, and somewhat impacts our future performances. If you didn't already know about this, maybe you might want to try and see the positive effects of the affirming words when used on someone you appreciate. Below are some words that you might want to affect on others:

Office Update!

It’s been a while since I wrote much from office. Since I got some spare time, I’m taking the opportunity to explore the Windows Live Writer application. Speaking of it, I’ve had this installed on some of my machines (personal and work) but never actually used it. Sure I launched the program before, but I’ve never written nor published anything from the application.

So let’s see how this turns out in a bit, once I’ve submitted/published this online

Temporarily, I’ve got quite some tasks in hand both personal and work. Personal-wise, well it’s friends and household stuffs; and work, well it’s just work. Challenging, yet intriguing . Alright, so let’s see how this looks like when it’s up! *clicks on publish*

Update: Not bad I reckon, other than some formatting issues, I'd say it's pretty swell! I may start using the Live Writer after all!

Fright Night! review

Just got back from a movie premier screen by Nuffnang with thanks to Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Malaysia. We were watching Fright Night, a Disney flick which tales a vampire, by the name of Jerry, living in the neighborhood where Charley Brewster (the main character) lives in. This movie is a mix of comedy and horror - weird combination, no? But I must admit the jokes were rather hilarious and got many members of the audience laughing to it.

I would not want to elaborate further on the movie, but would like to highlight some points as part of the review:

Was not much of a horror, rather more of suspense, but I do like the sound effects, makes your heart throb a little here and there.
The puns were hilarious and it made many members of the audience laugh.
The storyline was not that all interesting, but some of the actions were alright.
Character-wise, well they were alright too, but I think Colin Farrell did pretty well seeing there was all that was given to him. Anton Yelchin was average at the beginning, but his character picked up towards the end *thumbs up*
In terms of special effects, it was not that all impressive but it did fair well in its part of the show, except for the oozy blood that was really fake (I guess being part of a Disney movie, they can't have too much blood?)

I would rate it as 7/10.
An okay movie to watch, but it's not a movie you cannot miss.

Found Gifts, Lost Friends

I ran through some of the old stuffs I had lying around the house, and to my surprise, I found stuffs that not only I thought was long gone, but also reminded me of the good times I had with my buddies from high school back then. I've lost touch with them - their numbers, addresses, etc. (back then we weren't so into the whole internet thingy, so yeah, lost touch).

I wonder if I can find my old buddy Zizzi, and get in touch with her... Honestly, it's been like what.. more than 5 years, I think 7 or 8 years now?
It's worth a try to find out =)

Update:
Oh yes! I found her on Facebook, and added her! Thank God I can still recognize her =)
Gosh, it's a good thing that I'm a "collector" *grins*, I think this is one of the times I actually am happy of the stuffs I "archive" =P

Awesome Sunday

My today's To-do-List started off with only 3 items:

Call Sandra
Wash Car
Arrange a meeting with (threadmill) buyer

Unfortunately, the primary #1 task I did not manage to do (because I had forgotten about it - entirely slipped off my mind *sobs*). However, things turned around when there were more items spontaneously added to the list, and it somewhat compensated the disappointment I felt, with joy and fulfillment when I completed the others =)

My new list and its status for each item was updated to the following:

Call Sandra (Missed)
Wash Car (Completed: Washed 3 cars instead *sweats*)
Arrange a Meeting with (threadmill) Buyer (Completed)
Edit Photo Album (Completed: Edited 3 albums instead *exhales in relief*)
Clear Credit Card Bills (Completed)
Clean Closet (Still in progress)
Visit friend's open-house raya (Completed: Tapao a pack of rendang *grins*)
Picked and send friend home safely (Completed: Retrieved missing bag too! *smiles*)

These may seem like petty work, however they were meaningful today. I'll do item #1 when Sandra gets settled down later on :) and I won't miss it the next time around! :)

With that I conclude it was an Awesome Sunday indeed! :D

Rock Your Business Malaysia

Have you ever felt like there was things could have been better, but you don't know what or how to do? Or ponder on how things are, but you've yet to figure it out? Well, I used to indulge into what seems as answer-less questions, most times I get through, sometimes I don't and for this, it repeatedly haunts me every now and then, like your shadow that appears when there's light.

How can it be done?
How is it possible?
How to change?

During 29th to the 31st July 2011, I was invited to join in a highly interactive international business convention, known as Rock Your Business (RYB) Malaysia. That weekend session turned things around for me. No longer was I held back by miserable questions, but I found CLARITY in what I have been needing all the while. Whilst I'm no starting-up entrepreneur or any ongoing businessman, I had found the benefits that empowered my personal life as well as my working life.

Now you may wonder what RYB is about and what it does that makes me go saying all this, I'll gladly tell you that RYB is unlike any conventional event or business program that only teaches you 'HOWs' of business. As a matter of fact, RYB is the opposite of it, as it focuses on the cruciality of asking the eminent questions in the order of 'WHY', 'WHO', 'WHEN', 'WHERE' and last but not least 'HOW'.

WHY is it in this order? "Yes, you've asked a great question! And for that you'll get a great answer!" The reason or the secret behind most successful entrepreneurs or businesses, is the WHY they started it in the first place. The magnitude of the WHY is what defines the dignified success of entrepreneurs such as Jack Welch, Tony Fernandez or even Oprah Winfrey. This 'WHY' then leads to the next question, WHO am I, WHO inspires you or WHO you aspire to be. By understanding that, you'll then kick start your plans that states 'WHEN' it is to be actualized and 'WHERE' it would take you to. Leveraging on these areas, it articulates to the success you want and opening windows to 'HOW' you can do it.

"HOW this applies to me?" Nooooo, you got the order all wrong! *points back to the 2 paragraphs above, that's merely the last question to ask...* RYB not only helps entrepreneurs or businessman in gaining CLARITY, but those who attends RYB 3-days session will learn the tips and tricks that applies to personal life. The questions that was mentioned above, if you were to fine tune those to your current life, you would know how much you'll be able to change your life around or enhance it for the better. The things anyone could learn from are from the vast experience that the business experts have acquired throughout their years in the respective fields. For me, it was the best thing that had happened to me in years!

'WHO' were there, and 'WHO' are they? I'll cut it short; The people there were ranging from successful businessmen to starting entrepreneurs, to students (Note: the students weren't from business courses). They, from all ages, backgrounds and/or business, came for a common reason, which is to learn to bring themselves/their business to the next level and of course, to gain/branch network ("One can never have too many friends, only too many to properly take care of" - Rod McKuen).

So what has it done for me? Since I'd mentioned RYB had given me a boost to my personal and work life, I'll just share with you some of the things you could see happening instantaneously once you put it to practice:

I learned that using the word 'AWESOME' had a significantly big difference as compared to 'Good' or 'Not bad', as it somewhat gives an empowering effect onto the energy that I emit. Try this when someone asks you how are you doing, answer "I'm AWESOME!" with a big heartfelt smile on your face. You'd be surprised by the atmosphere you've just created!

Speaking of energy, one is able to SHIFT from the 'Dull', 'Gloomy' or 'Stormy' energy to 'Sunny', 'Bright' and 'Awesome' energy by simply changing locations (for discussions, work or personal matters), alternating the breathing methods and changing the choice of words to more constructive manners (this can be related to the above point).

GRATITUDE - An amazing word which simply means to show appreciation. Instead of putting blame or plunge yourself in the depths of helplessness, why not show thankfulness to those who have taught you well? WHO are these teachers? Everyone! Be it a Mentor, Stranger or even your Enemy, these people have indeed showed you much lessons in ways you've least expected. A good example would be disappointment or failure, the Teachers have demonstrated what it looks, feels, smells and tastes like. With that, when we show gratitude, we are able to look at things from a whole new perspective, not only can we are able to fall forward but we can also stand up taller and reach out (and possibly take quantum leaps) to greater heights of success (whether personal or business wise, or both!)

Gone? Back?

Most people would have thought I'd give up on blogging already. Nope, I did not. Just that I've been REALLY REALLY busy to the point, I'd barely have time for myself. That's honest to the heart.

So what's happening? Well, I've been traveling lately, BUT it's for business purposes. Recently, been assigned to certain project (of which details I cannot disclose to you due to private and confidential matters) and it requires me to be onshore/on-site at my client's office(s). What I can share with you is that I've been around Jakarta and Bangkok these couple of weeks =P Unfortunately, due to time constraint I didn't have the luxury to explore the cities nor have time to take pictures - unless you're interested in hotel views from the inside, and the buffet breakfast in which I had most mornings, or even the canteen/food court food during lunches and dinners. *takes a look at you* Well, I guess not.

So what's before that? Seriously, busy office works. No doubt, I was the runner for many projects (yes, I'm involved in various projects). Organizing, planning, development, coordinating, leading, you name it - I've been in many areas, far beyond my job scope as well. Now you know why I'm busy? Why? I guess I wanted to make a point to everyone - Jeffro's in town, and he's playing a strong game!

Inspiration, Aspiration, Motivation, & Realization

Came across these 4 words before? Do you know that these 4 words are interrelated? In fact, you'll actually find them to be interchangeable at some time. In order to complete a milestone, accomplish a goal, achieve the desired results, stand at the peak of success and etc., one would require to understand these 4 terms. They are what defines one's journey or path from one end to the other. Without either or any of them, one would either be stuck halfway or one would have never gone far beyond the few steps taken.

What do you aspire to be?
What inspires you?
What motivates you?
What made you realize it? / How do you realize it?

Between Inspiration and Aspiration, some find it hard to tell apart from one another. While others are just not bothered about what they are. One day, you'd be asked "What are your aspirations in life?" or "What are your life's inspiration?", or both. What and how would you answer?

Between Inspiration and Motivation, many wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two due to they both share in common. "Aren't they the same thing?" The answer is Yes and No. Logically looking at how it has been used interchangeably, they simply mean the desire/force to do something. But are they really the same?

Between Aspiration and Realization, it's pretty easy to determine eh? Simply because one is To-Be/To-Do and the other is Been or Be-ing/Done or Do-ing. Sounds easy? So have you realized your aspiration? If you're reading this, most likely it's a "Hahaha, I'm on the way!" or "Errr, still looking around". If your answer's the former or somewhat similar, then "Congratulations! I'll see ya at the finishing line! We'll cheers to that!" But if your answer's the latter, I'd suggest you to wake up from your fantasy / dreamy world to reality that you've got bills to pay, people to take of care, and that you better start picking up the pace! So, which answer have you?

Alright, enough of the trivial questions (I'd be glad if it wasn't) and let's go into the real deal here. We'll be going through a series of definition (No it's not going to be from the Oxford dictionary. Rather it'll be from experience.) based on situations that we're mostly familiar with.

Inspiration:
Ever feel the need to rush / run to the toilet just because your stomach had a pinch in the inside? No, that's not inspiration. Inspiration's something (usually a solid reason) that one going on doing something that's different from usual. For example, a young lad who wants to be a fire fighter, after seeing a heroic fireman saving an old lady from a burning building. That heroic fireman, or that heroic action is the inspiration for the lad's journey on being a fire fighter. It's the kick-start factor, that usually leads to a long-term path towards that the specific something (goal).

Motivation:
Same definition as Inspiration? No. As compared to Inspiration, Motivation would mostly be the reason as to why one would continue doing something (after a period of time). Motivation may get one started in working up something, but unlike Inspiration, it requires one to "re-visit" (or "repeat") it, otherwise, it'll just "burn out" or (fade-away). In other words, Motivation is what keeps one's Inspiration "alive", and without Inspiration, Motivation doesn't have much affect on the things you do. A good scenario is which I'd come across before. When back in junior school, music captured my attention and I was inspired to take up music and make it a career path. Appearance of celebrities like Wang Lee Hom (a big fan of his), Christina Aguilera (love her voice), and etc, motivated me to practice the pieces and score sheets. Then, I found friends who are great in guitars, keyboards, and drums, and it pull me more into spending time on practicing music. In time, I was transferred to another school, and had lesser and lesser time to meet up with the gang. And so I practice lesser and lesser. Before I knew it, I'd let go of the acoustic guitar (it's kept away) and celebrities on TV just became people on TV. So what I'm trying to say is that good friends (motivating factor) or the lack of enthusiasm in music (another motivating factor), the inspiration of going into the music industry just "dies" off.

Now, some of you might be asking, "So, a motivation can also be an inspiration?". Not really, it's not like smoking where your friends tell you to smoke, you tried and you get addicted to it. No, motivation and addiction is on two separate pages. If your friend ask you to do voluntary work, and you obliged to it (well, I'll be damn sure that you'll agree to it if you're a guy and the person who ask you is a HOT girl, or the other opposite gender around), that's the Motivation there, the charms. But hey, if the voluntary work is cleaning up after elderlies at the old folk's home, would you continue on? Some say 'Yes', some say 'No'. I bet the 'Yes' is due to the Motivation there. But if I take away the motivating factor there, would you still continue? If your answer is 'No', then you should know what's the difference between Motivation and Inspiration. If your answer is 'Yes', well then, I believe you've found your inspiration that made you continue on. Another scenario is Studying with "Benefits" (Motivation factor) at the end. Unless you want to be the next Einstein or Plato, I believe there's nobody who'd like to do academic studies, BUT you'd do it if you were paid for it, or if you were promised an XBOX, iPhone, Alienware or a Burberry accessory. Take the Motivation factor away and voila, you stop studying like a machine without electrical power.

In short, without Motivation, Inspiration can still get you going on, but perhaps at a slower rate to reach where you're targeting. But if there was no Inspiration to begin with, and you lost your Motivation along the way, you'll immediately stop what you're doing.

Aspiration:
"I want to be the world's greatest Formula 1 racer!" Heard of that? Yeah, then the next thing you hear, especially back then, when it was a trend everywhere... engines roaring, tires screeching, and then BAAAAANNNGGG!!! Well, that's not my point. What I meant was the person you want to be, that's Aspiration. And yes, Aspiration is a synonym to Ambition. So, have you gotten the answer to the first question I asked?

Realization:
This word here is a little tricky, as the meaning tend to change strongly depending what phase/stage/situation you are at. If you're at the beginning (or in the midst) of something, Realization simply means you've gain awareness or you're fully aware of a fact that determines the direction, the goals, or your understanding of the plan. However, if you're at the middle or at the end of something, it simple means you're doing (realizing) your work, or you've completed (realized) the designated work. So Realization covers from the act of gaining awareness, to make it real and keeping it real. A good example of understanding what I meant would be, "Have you realized it?" could you referring to "Have you noticed it?" or "Have you done it?"

Understanding these doesn't necessarily means that you're done with it, or that you've achieved something great. That goes with saying, "You've only successfully understood what was told. Doesn't mean you're at success." This only provides you with mere understanding and how to distinguish them. However, making full use of this knowledge will bring you somewhere greater than you think - Kick start your Aspiration with Inspiration, with the support of Motivation, in order to achieve Realization in whatever you do or plan.

Dining @ T-Bowl Sucks!

Just when you think another weekend couldn't or shouldn't get any worse than the previous one, I'd say it's Strike TWO! Bad weekends on a streak =( and this time it's on T-Bowl (aka Toilet Bowl) Concept Restaurant. Heck I think it's a rip-off as well, I've seen its serving a while back, and compared to that, I'd say they'd drop the ball on quality of their food. Thought I'd give it a try at the Sunway's Branch (well everyone deserves a chance right?) so brought family and a friend of my sis there... just to be disappointed...

I feel kinda cheated, it's like liquid sugar with blue syrup,
heck the icing you see on top, doesn't have any taste...

My opinion, they should have added a lil' sprite at the very least...
At least if you wanna cheat your customers, do it properly...
Otherwise, it's not even worth it...

Mushroom Chicken Chop Rice & Chinese Mambo Pork Rice
It's literally a MUSHROOM (original there were 2 mushrooms
and an extra wonton) and Chicken Chop Rice...
But oh c'mon! if I'm gonna order lemon grass chicken chop...
you mean I'll get lemon and GRASS? sheesssh people...

I mean I do have a sense of humor, but it's not quite there,
especially when a person's hungry...

And you know the saying "when you're hungry everything's good" ?
Well, it's wrong, it's good, if it's truly good...
but this... Arrrggghhh!

Japanese Style Fried Rice (Vegetarian) & Honey Lemon Tea
Don't get me started on this as well...
I don't expect much from this meal, but again,
even so, I should have been given a decent meal right?
*sigh*
The drinks were very PLAIN... so no comment..
(or rather, it's just not worth the additional words)

Ice cream came melting its way to our table.
I manage to quickly snap a picture, before it really melts into soup
the Fried Pumpkin? I guess I didn't like it at all..

Complimentary fruit from a dinner set
The setting is just wrong...
But I guess this is alright after all ;)

Long stuffs short, if you'd asked me,
that would be my first and last time...
But hey, don't take my word for it,
you give them 1-time business, and be the judge of it yourself!
(please don't say I didn't warn ya...)

but of course, if in anyway, should they have improved themselves,
(in which I highly doubt it's possible, especially in a short time)
then you're very lucky!
